Key Findings
- Baseline Scenarios were developed in Palestine and Jordan based on realistic assumptions for population growth, economic and agricultural development, and future water supply until 2050.
- Freshwater deficits between 2020 and 2050 were estimated in both countries. To get insight into the spatial distribution of the deficits, the national territories were divided into 17 demand areas.
- Palestine and Jordan will need 605 and 712 Mio.m³ of water per year to cover their respective domestic and industrial water demand in 2050.
- Domestic and industrial water deficits will be especially high in Gaza and in the urban centres of Northern and Central Jordan.
